The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) remarked the Entrepreneurial Growth Center MacondoLab, which belongs to the University of Simon Bolivar, as one of the creative industry spaces in Latin American and the Caribbean inside the report: “Launch your Orange Future” recently published in collaboration with the Failure Institute.
By Colombia, there are 10 business accelerators registered within the first regional catalogue of more than 300 Latin American incubators, accelerators and co-working spaces. This initiative allows the process to keep on with the needed task of mapping and reinforcement of the regional creative eco-system according to the report. The catalogue becomes MacondoLab, owned by the University of Simon Bolivar, as an Accelerator.
The report summarizes important information regarding creative entrepreneurial from the region and shares outcomes through 15 questions which determine a description of how much talent is in Latin American and the Caribbean.
In the third phase of the report there was analyzed the need to do an entrepreneurs' map and creative entrepreneurship in Latin America and the Caribbean in order to prevent the loss of opportunities due to the unawareness of the accurate location and labor activities held. According to the report " this lack of information impedes to know the number of companies in incubation and the type of creative entrepreneurship that makes part of the programs ".
MacondoLab has an equipment of interdisciplinary work, with broad experience in topics of entrepreneurship, research and innovation, created in 2014 which uses the technology as instrument for the development of the innovation and hereby to answer to the dynamics of the changes the environment experiments.
Last year MacondoLab was catalogued as the first business accelerator in Colombia and included in the top 20 of Latin American, according to the Latam Accelerator Report 2016 from the company Gust and Fundacitym. At the beginning of 2018 MacondoLab received in Toronto, Canada, a recognition in the category of Top Challenger-Latin America as program of business incubation linked to universities, on behalf of the UBI Global, a company of research and advisory whose headquarters are in Sweden.
